Growing up, my mom had a line that she would say to each of her three daughters, in a somewhat exasperated tone.\u00a0 I could hear her now, \u201cI love you so much that it hurts!\u201d \u00a0Sometimes, she would cradle our face while chanting these words.<\/p>\n

When Adin and Maya would have their sibling squabbles, disagreements, well, all right, fights, we would discuss what was going on afterwards privately.\u00a0 I\u2019d hear, \u201cI\u2019m so angry, I can\u2019t stand him (or her).\u201d Or, \u201cwhy does s\/he bother me so?\u201d<\/p>\n

I would reflect that this anger shows that you really love him (or her).\u00a0 \u201cAfter all, you wouldn\u2019t be so furious with someone you didn\u2019t care for so deeply.\u201d<\/p>\n

For me now, I\u2019m in touch with something similar going on.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not anger; it\u2019s deep sadness.\u00a0 The pain that I feel would not exist had it not been for the deep love that I experience(d).\u00a0 Is the profound grief that I am in, really love in disguise?<\/p>\n

I go back to other entries I have made here.\u00a0 This may be my mantra, for years to come.\u00a0 My challenge is to hold it all.\u00a0 The pain and the love.<\/p>\n
