Your mother has laid daffodils at your feet,<\/p>\n

gold, like you.<\/p>\n

They will spread throughout the forest.<\/p>\n

At your head<\/p>\n

a crown of crystals and stones, all precious,<\/p>\n

and a leaf,<\/p>\n

married as you are to the trees.<\/p>\n

How beautiful it is, how beautiful you always are,<\/p>\n

even here,<\/p>\n

your mother gives you life.<\/p>\n

We need a way to water these flowers<\/p>\n

your mother says and then remembers her tears<\/p>\n

and the tears of your father and brother and sister<\/p>\n

and the tears of your friends and the strangers<\/p>\n

who read about you and your teachers and your cat<\/p>\n

and your treehouse and even your bike<\/p>\n

and all the others who cry at this cemetery for others<\/p>\n

and at that realization more flowers bloom in the<\/p>\n

forest at your feet<\/p>\n

planted at the hands of more mothers.<\/p>\n

So no need for water.<\/p>\n

Your name means love in Nepali; you are always love.<\/p>\n

See what good has come of this death, dear ones<\/p>\n

offer to comfort,<\/p>\n

as they point to the work of the Foundation.<\/p>\n

But your good was your life.<\/p>\n

Your good was the daffodils you sent down the stream<\/p>\n

one summer at camp,<\/p>\n

and the way you cared about everyone around you<\/p>\n

and the way Play played through you and the way we<\/p>\n

are better for it.<\/p>\n

Your good is what lives in us as memory<\/p>\n

and as the present.<\/p>\n

Your death brings as much good<\/p>\n

as we enter the Great Ocean and send<\/p>\n
