Dear Maya,<\/p>\n

We recently participated in the Mothering Daughtering workshops twice this month; once as assistants for the preteens and once as guest participants for the teens.\u00a0 On the weekend that we were guests, we decided to branch out a little bit.\u00a0 We did for ourselves some non-workshop related things during the breaks.\u00a0 We went for a long walk.\u00a0 It was getting so late and the afternoon session was starting soon.\u00a0 We actually wound up hitch hiking back to campus.\u00a0 You were beside yourself that I even suggested this, but after all, it was on the road to Omega!<\/em>\u00a0 We each had a massage; now that was thoroughly nourishing.<\/p>\n

There was a Kirtan concert scheduled for Saturday evening.\u00a0 We planned on attending, but when the time came, you were tired and wanted to go to our cabin, shower, then go to bed.\u00a0 I went to the performance on my own.\u00a0 As much as I was loving it, I was also sad that you weren\u2019t there.\u00a0 I decided to get you.\u00a0 I went to the cabin and sure enough, you were in the shower.\u00a0 I knocked on the bathroom door.\u00a0 You resisted, but agreed to thirty minutes.\u00a0 You then talked me down to twenty minutes.\u00a0 I agreed but realized that I didn\u2019t have a watch and there was no clock there.\u00a0 So I suggested \u201cfour songs\u201d (little did you know the length of Kirtan songs).\u00a0 Well, we got there and \u201cWah!\u201d sang (with us) for the first three songs.\u00a0 Aside from being a wonderful musician (she plays bass and sings), in between songs, she tells stories.\u00a0 She had quite the sense of humor and was very engaging.<\/p>\n

After Wah\u2019s!\u00a0 three songs, there was a set change.\u00a0 Donna De Lory was on next.\u00a0 Oh, what a powerful voice!\u00a0 And she\u2019s a great dancer and overall connector.\u00a0 After one song (which made four total), I leaned over and whispered to you, wondering if you wanted to leave.\u00a0 After all, that was the deal (Charlie).\u00a0 But no.\u00a0 You wanted to stay.\u00a0 Another song passed and you wanted to stay even longer.\u00a0 You were enjoying the performance so much, that time did not even matter.\u00a0 We felt so enriched from absorbing that beautiful musical experience, but sooner or later it was time to leave\u2026 to be continued.<\/p>\n

[please note, I never finished this story in the Maya Journal.\u00a0 June 2015 had come and there was so much to write about during that particular month.\u00a0 I will continue here and now in real time, as I remember that night as if it was yesterday.]<\/p>\n

On our way back from the theatre to the cabin, we encountered a skunk.\u00a0 Actually, there was a family of skunks.\u00a0 We tried to outsmart them, but they were quite tricky themselves.\u00a0 In the dark, they ran from cabin to cabin, hiding underneath the cabins and behind bushes.\u00a0 Maya and I stood still.\u00a0 We then headed back towards the theatre.\u00a0 We walked around the cabin area on another circuitous path.\u00a0 Finally, we came to a curve and a hill.\u00a0 There was a blind spot right before our destination and we didn\u2019t have a sense of what we (or who) we might encounter.\u00a0 After a long pause, we both dashed to our cabin door.\u00a0 Skunk free, many huge exhales, lots of laughs and ultimately a well-deserved good night\u2019s sleep.<\/p>\n
