Adin: Yes, but she just hit me in the buttocks.<\/p>\n

Maya: Adin, your butt does not talk!<\/p>\n

October 24, 2006<\/p>\n

Jo told me about this.\u00a0 She came by yesterday afternoon to remove a tic since Bridget, our babysitter was here. \u00a0During that time, Jayson came home injured.\u00a0 Jo inquired, \u201cdo you know where Jayson\u2019s vet is?\u201d\u00a0 You responded, \u201cI think I\u2019ve been there, but I couldn\u2019t tell you how to get there\u2026I\u2019m only six, you know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jayson had been left at the vet\u2019s overnight.\u00a0 In our car ride home from the vet\u2019s, having picked Jayson up, he was crying.<\/p>\n

Jayson: wining, crying<\/p>\n

Maya: shhhh, shhhh<\/p>\n

Mom: Maya, it\u2019s okay that Jayson\u2019s crying.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to cry sometimes, you know that.<\/p>\n

Maya: Yea, you\u2019re right.\u00a0 (Then whispers to Jayson.)<\/p>\n

Mom: What are you saying?<\/p>\n

Maya: It\u2019s okay Jayson, take a deep breath.\u00a0 Just breathe.<\/p>\n

Another time this month\u2026background information- we are all still learning about offering apologies.\u00a0 Over time, when Adin has apologized to you, you often scowl at him, \u201cyou don\u2019t mean it”, or \u201cdon\u2019t talk to me.\u201d\u00a0 This has made dynamics challenging at best.\u00a0 Adin has been trying to right his wrongs and you knock him down.\u00a0 We\u2019ve been working with you on changing this pattern.<\/p>\n

Recently, you both hurt each other.\u00a0 Adin apologized to you.\u00a0 You came running in to me and daddy asking for guidance.\u00a0 You wanted to do it differently.\u00a0 We said you could say whatever feels right to you, including:<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for saying I\u2019m sorry\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI heard you\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI accept your apology\u201d<\/p>\n

You went back to Adin and said, \u201cAdin, I expect your apology.\u201d\u00a0 Adin, Daddy and I laughed.\u00a0 Later, you apologized to Adin.\u00a0 He said to you, \u201cMaya, I expect your apology, too!\u201d\u00a0 We all laughed.<\/p>\n
