Puzzle girl,<\/p>\n

You have always enjoyed puzzles.\u00a0 A month or so ago, I went to Nora and Lowell\u2019s house.\u00a0 They were giving away lots of Lowell\u2019s old toys.\u00a0 Daddy warned me not to get anything as \u201cwe have enough junk in the house.\u201d\u00a0 Against his advice, I went and tried to be very selective.\u00a0 I picked up about four or five items, including two 300-piece puzzles.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know what I was thinking\u2026perhaps when Adin was 12, he\u2019d get to them.\u00a0 They seemed daunting to me.<\/p>\n

One day, Mathew was having a bath.\u00a0 Adin was working on homework, I was on the computer and I hear you from your room saying, \u201chey, you guys, I gotta show you something!\u201d\u00a0 I came upstairs to find that you completed a 300-piece rain forest puzzle ALL ON YOUR OWN!\u00a0 This was an amazing feat; I could hardly believe it.\u00a0 You were in your glory, (understandably so)!\u00a0 I had to see how it was even possible for you to do such an overwhelming task, so I did the next one with you.\u00a0 You didn\u2019t even use the picture on the box as a model.\u00a0 You didn\u2019t work from the edges.\u00a0 You had a sense and piece by piece, you found where they fit, in some cases using trial and error.<\/p>\n

What was remarkable to me was how \u201cin the moment\u201d you are during the process.\u00a0 You are \u201cright there.\u201d\u00a0 You are not thinking about the worries of the world or what you will do after puzzles, or who you should have called on the phone, or anything else.\u00a0 You are in the moment.\u00a0 In fact, doing a 300-piece puzzle is no different for you than doing a 30-piece puzzle.\u00a0 In a 30-piece puzzle, the pieces may be bigger, but the process is still the same.<\/p>\n

You are very present and spontaneous.\u00a0 You have fun.\u00a0\u00a0 You laugh, you smile, you sing the whole while.\u00a0 It is somewhat addictive for you too, as you are driven to complete at least certain sections, if not the entire puzzle.\u00a0 These are all wonderful lessons of life.\u00a0 Thank you for sharing them with me!<\/p>\n
