11.11
People wonder about signs. I often don’t look for or need signs, as I feel Maya’s presence constantly. Around me and inside of me. But yes, there are other times that signs are evident. There have been certain rainbows, a special wind, the way the sunlight hits grasses or the leaves, a bird or lights playing a trick on me. One thing that has been so consistent has been 11:11. 11:11 was Maya’s favorite time. If we happened to notice the time when 11:11 appeared on a clock, Maya would get almost giddy. She’d remind me to make a wish. And so we did.
Over the months, something uncanny has been happening. There may be hours that I would not be paying attention to time, and then, I’d have a thought. It could be a sad thought, an angry one, or a happy moment, most often related to Maya. I would happen to glance at the clock and there 11:11 would be smiling right at me. One day, in a really good mood, while cooking and dancing in the kitchen, certainly not being in touch with time, just being present, there I glanced again. And yes, 11:11 was there to greet me. It’s as if Maya is saying, “hi, mom!”
I had a fun trip to the Newark Airport a few months ago. The GPS on the dashboard started by saying that my arrival time would be sometime after 12:00 noon. I decided not to follow the route guidance. Low and behold, with taking my own route, you guessed it. 11:11 was the projected arrival time for the majority of the journey. I smiled each time I looked at this number. And I actually pulled into my parking spot at precisely 11:11. I love these “hello’s.” And I too, now love 11:11. So please join me. If you happen to glance at the clock and see 11:11, smile and make a wish.

I love this! 11:11 is my favorite too! Wishing on 11:11s is how I got into graduate school. And, I wished/prayed on every 11:11 for Ruben’s health once he was born. I use it every time I catch it to clarify what’s most important to me in that moment (usually still my kids’ health). Thanks for this post – and to be reminded that today is one long 11:11. <3 <3
I appreciate learning of this. And your wishes on 11:11 seemed to have come true. Wishing you and your children continued health and love. xox
I will do that!
Thank you!
I’m posting this at 11:11a Colorado time!
Love you.

How serendipitous…and why am I not surprised?
Just after reading this beautiful post I went over to FB and the first post on my feed read that on 11:11 every Veteran’s Day, the sun aligns perfectly with the Anthem’s Veteran’s Memorial in Arizona. I made a wish for peace and said a little “hello” to Maya.
I appreciate the intention of that design. And yes, we need wishes for peace now more than ever. Thank you, Rachel.
